Is it me, or has this summer been weird?? Normally when July 4th comes, I consider it hump day, meaning summer is half over. This year, July 4th seems like the launch of summer. I think it feels that way because of our wet, cold spring and some major things in my life schedule that had me unusually busy. Regardless, I don't want to miss the good things of summer. So here's my list of things that could make up the second half of summer.
- Vacation or stay-cation
- Go to the beach
- Go to downtown Chicago (take the train)
- Cook out on the deck as much as possible
- Walk, bike, jog (even on 90 degree days)
- Golf
- Limit TV watching to news, sports and NASCAR
- Sit outside at coffee shops and restaurants
- Stop by friends that have pools, lakes, ponds, etc. (you get the hint)
- Read books - fiction and non-fiction
- Try something new outdoors. I'm close to trying mountain biking.
- Picnic with friends and family (sometimes they are actually both)
- Slow down enough to think about the future
The bottom line is that we have ten weeks (or more??) left of summer...enjoy. Did I miss any ideas? Have any suggestions?
Bob, you should be in the Muddy Buddy, I will forward you my brother Steve's pictures. You go with a partner and take turns running and biking. The very last part you have to "swim/wade" thru a mud pit!!! Steve and Doug are entering as a team.

I would think going to a Cubs game would be on the list. If you want to take someone with you . . .
:-D

For me, Bob, I mark the half way point of summer when the Cubs have officially been eliminated. I have my own little summer celebration then.
