I spent a little time last night reflecting on the death of Michael Jackson, after watching portions of his memorial service in LA. Here are some of my thoughts.
- I was thankful for a few words that spoke about Jesus. Did you catch Mariah Carey's "Thank you, Jesus" and the choir's "Soon and Very Soon"?
- I thought about how awesome Jesus' resurrection is. The scriptures tell us that after three days He arose! The Bible says, "How he does yet shall he live."
- I thought of how hard Michael's upbringing must have been. Growing up in fame and fortune, he didn't have a normal life.
- I was upset when Rev. Al Sharpton said Michael was "the greatest star to ever walk the earth." Shame on him. Mariah Carey was a better preacher than he was.
- I observed that even Hollywood has technical difficulties. They had a few mic issues.
- I think about how people tend to make heroes out of almost anyone who dies.
- I felt so sad for Michael's children. I offered a prayer for them. They were obviously loved by him. Thank God! "Love comes from God."
- I was impressed by his music and dancing ability. That came from God.
- I can't imagine what was really going on in his head or behind closed doors.
- I pray that someone close to the children and family are Christians who can point them to Jesus.
Do you have anything to add?
I pray the biological mother of Michael's children steps up and we find out that she was a surrogate from the very beginning and now wants her children in her life, not for money, but out of love.

An "Icon,King, greatest star to ever walk this earth?" not liking that. However he was a man with a heart to "heal the world" and I heard many say they loved that about him. It was heartwarming to listen to those words of his songs bringing peace, love and harmony to ALL!

Just a few comments.
1) You're far more gracious than I am. Thanks to Jesus, offered by (if the Internet reports are trustworthy) a self-absorbed, childish entertainer with a hit titled "Touch My Body", do no honor to his name.
2) It makes sense to me that the funeral was held at the Staples Center. The official website says "STAPLES Center is a world-class arena for sports and entertainment events". And that's exactly what Michael Jackson's funeral was: an entertainment event.
3) You're absolutely right. Jesus' resurrection is awesome. It will likely take me the rest of my life to wrap my brain around Romans 4:25.

Did you catch Pastor Lucious Smith eloquently closed the service with this line, “But even now the King of Pop must bow his knee to the King of Kings.”

I read that Michael J had invited two different Christian leaders to see him in private. Don't know who, but am encouraged by that seeking.
